One or two flowering plants are making another late push. This is the Spiny Sow-Thistle, Sonchus asper.

And the Meadow Buttercup - Ranunculus acris - is still hanging on (this one literally, to a Soft Rush) |
Here's a Blowfly, or Blue-bottle, on Bramble. It was very sluggish and reluctant to move.

These Wasps were very keen to move, however. Someone had been disturbing their nest with the stick shown on the lower left. They were incandescent in their fury. I took this shot on telephoto and left in a hurry. They were patrolling 30 metres or so up and down the path in groups of 10 or 20. Their highly agitated state led me to the nest. |
