Plants exhibit a strong tendency to follow the Fibonacci series.
The Fibonacci series is the following set of numbers:- 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89....and so on. To get the numbers in the Fibonacci series, we write down the two numbers 0 and 1, and then add them together, giving 1. Then we add the 1 and the 1 giving us 2. Each number in the Fibonacci series is obtained by adding the two previous ones together. Notice that the number 21 is a Fibonacci number. Not all flowers have numbers of petals that appear on the Fibonacci series, but many do. Some will be just under a Fibonacci number, or just over, but their average will usually be one of the series. |
