Mixed forestry.
A fungal day. It's that time of year.
Absolute downpour, clearing at 6pm. |
Two young samples to start. Jelly Babies - Leotia lubrica - (1cm. diameter cap) on the left and a very young Shaggy Ink-Cap - Coprinus comatus - (4 cm. tall) on the right.

The Beechwood Sickener - Russula mairei - is very popular with slugs. I don't think I've seen an opened one that hasn't been partially eaten. About 6 cm. across. |
This tiny (5mm.) bright orange mushroom was growing on the bark of a dead log. I haven't got the slightest clue what it is. Spore print in preparation. |
This is an early view of Helvella crispa, the White Helvella. If it survives, I'll show the grotesque shape that it has when mature. |
A nice Peltigera lactucifolia, one of the Dog's tooth Lichens.
