Mixed forestry.

A fungal day. It's that time of year.

Absolute downpour, clearing at 6pm.

Two young samples to start. Jelly Babies - Leotia lubrica - (1cm. diameter cap) on the left and a very young Shaggy Ink-Cap - Coprinus comatus - (4 cm. tall) on the right.

The Beechwood Sickener - Russula mairei - is very popular with slugs. I don't think I've seen an opened one that hasn't been partially eaten. About 6 cm. across.

This tiny (5mm.) bright orange mushroom was growing on the bark of a dead log. I haven't got the slightest clue what it is. Spore print in preparation.

This is an early view of Helvella crispa, the White Helvella. If it survives, I'll show the grotesque shape that it has when mature.

A nice Peltigera lactucifolia, one of the Dog's tooth Lichens.
