Drumboe Woods (handy when it's raining).

Dull with pulses of rain.

Two more flowering plants making another go of it. Hedge Woundwort and Cat's Ear (which has returned, even after being succeeded by Autumn Hawkbit).

This a shot of the hoverfly Leucozona glaucia just about to land on Hogweed.

This Dor Beetle - Geotrupes stercorarius - was moving rather swiftly along the path. A difficult photograph (panning on macro).

I just managed one shot of this very lively and pristine Red Admiral. An influx of these butterflies was noted in late August, and this is probably an offspring of those.

An old tree stump was covered in lichens and mosses. I can see three different species of Cladonia in this small area.

This Bolete was so large, I had to use telephoto to fit it into the frame. The cap was a full 20 cm. across. Perhaps the Brown Birch Bolete, Leccinum scabrum.
