Drumboe Woods (handy when it's raining).
Dull with pulses of rain. |
Two more flowering plants making another go of it. Hedge Woundwort and Cat's Ear (which has returned, even after being succeeded by Autumn Hawkbit).
|
This a shot of the hoverfly Leucozona glaucia just about to land on Hogweed. |
This Dor Beetle - Geotrupes stercorarius - was moving rather swiftly along the path. A difficult photograph (panning on macro). |
I just managed one shot of this very lively and pristine Red Admiral. An influx of these butterflies was noted in late August, and this is probably an offspring of those. |
An old tree stump was covered in lichens and mosses. I can see three different species of Cladonia in this small area. |
This Bolete was so large, I had to use telephoto to fit it into the frame. The cap was a full 20 cm. across. Perhaps the Brown Birch Bolete, Leccinum scabrum. |
