9th December

An opportunistic visit to the town centre during the only bright moment of the day.

Dull all day - virtually no light.

I showed the liverwort Lunularia cruciata on a wall the other day. This shot was taken in a more usual location - the ground.

It's obviously sporing time for these liverworts. The spores are produced in little cups and are washed out by raindrops. I suppose that ensures that spores are distributed in ideal (wet) conditions. A couple of dislodged spores can be seen near the centre of the picture.
