A couple of spore prints of fungi. It occured to me that I've often mentioned spore prints, but never shown one.

 

Damp with occasional drizzle.

The image on the left is the spore print of Tubaria furfuracia. This is obtained by leaving the fungus on a glass slide and waiting overnight. The colour of the print gives clues about the identity of the mushroom. Under the  x400 microscope (in the right-hand picture) the shape and size of the individual spores gives further clues about identification. These spores are about 8 microns long, and are smooth.

    

And this pair of images shows the spore print and spores of an unidentified Mycena.
