26th January

A couple of further images from Drumboe Woods.

A 'green' theme, today.

Dull with threats of snow that turned to rain.

These are fresh Holly leaves. I suspect they are the result of some mechanical damage to the growing tip - the older leaves are torn below the new growth.

Wood Speedwell shoots are just appearing. They are easily recognised by the pale yellow/green colour of the leaves. I always find them in close association with trees - they appear to prefer shade.

This is one of the Graphis lichens. They're usually white to pale grey. I'm not sure if there are green species or if this is an algal growth on a normal coloured specimen.

Graphis britannica - syn. Graphina anguina

And this is a superb Ramalina fastigiata, about 6 cm. across.
