Various locations around the town.

Cloudy.

Horse Chestnut - Aesculus hippocastanum - was only in leaf bud 10 days ago. Now we have flower buds. That's an incredible rate of growth. Flower spike about 12 cm. tall.

This is the mark made by the attachment point of the leaf stalk. It looks rather like a horse's hoof with horse-shoe. One theory says that this mark is the origin of the common name.

This is the Black Slug - Arion ater.

The similar brown slug that we get is actually regarded as the same species.

One left over from Lough Derg, yesterday.

This looks like a Willowherb rosette.
