More from the original Hedgerow, leg 1.

Torrential rain showers with bright spells.

This is the Carder Bee - Bombus pascuorum. At this time of the year it is our most frequent Bumble Bee, although the Queen Bombus lucorum has been seen hunting for places to make a nest for a few weeks, now.

I was down looking at insects when I suddenly noticed that one of the flowers I was looking at hadn't been photographed this year. Creeping Buttercup - Ranunculus repens.

Little and Large - Eristalis pertinax on the left and Platychierus sp. on the right.

Note the shadow of the Eristalis wing on the Celandine petal.

One of my early attempts to photograph a hovering hoverfly.

Note the shadow of the hoverfly on the Celandine petal.
