Original Hedgerow, leg 2. Is it just me or are seeds and spores being produced more quickly this year? Hot with some sun. |
These are the two stages of the seed-head of Meadow Buttercup - Ranunculus acris. Note that the final black version has prominent hooks to aid seed dispersal.

A Small Tortoiseshell was trapped on the inside on my window. The transparent shot is quite attractive. The second brood of these is much more numerous this year. |
