Charity Walk
The Charity Walk for Lionsvilla and other Lions charities took place on Sunday morning May 28, 2000. The route took us through some of the most scenic sights in the Howth peninsula starting from Marine Hotel, Sutton Cross.
It ended with refreshments and light mental exercises at the Marine Hotel afterwards. As usual Jim will not be in a position to give 'exact' accounts of what was collected until all supporters and sponsors have been 'gentlemanly harassed' over the next several weeks - could end up at £4,500.
The following pictures show the small but brave hearted group before facing the south side of 'Ben Eadar'.
The left handed picture shows Lisa Reid, Simon Bray and Alan Hanway before setting out for the walk. Well done to Simon for the 'creative way' he inspired his colleagues in MeesPierson Financial Services, IFSC, to sponsor his walk.
Many thanks to Simon and Damian for a very impressive fund raising initiative in MeesPierson, Irish Financial Services Centre (IFSC), Dublin.

A Taste of Howth 1999
New Format tops them all!
A charity night is held annually in Howth Yacht Club for the Howth-Sutton Lions, who in turn present a cheque to the Royal National Lifeboat Association of Ireland (RNLI). This year the function was revamped under a new format. This replaced the 'Oyster Night' which itself was so successful over the years in creating valuable funds for the Howth-Sutton Lions Club.

patrons at the Taste of Howth function
The welcome change was suggested by 'Himself' of King Sitric fame, who
organised his fellow Restauranteurs of the village of Howth to combine and
provide a Buffet for all to enjoy.
Each introduced food of their own
speciality which made the night a unique and experiential occasion for the
guests. Sponsored wine and beer was also on tap.
The
night realised £11,500 for Howth-Sutton Lions charities, which exceeded the
previous year by 75%. Great credit to Michael Fitzpatrick and 'his
committee'.

Cake Sale - sold out!
The cake sale on April 2, which was organised after Sunday Masses in St Fintan's Parish Centre by Lions spouses, led by Anne Langford and Colette O'Rourke, proved to be a great success. £633 was made for Lions charities. Much thanks to all concerned. A special word of thanks to the Centre's Management, the parish clergy, Fr Malony PP, Fr Enda and Fr Hogan, to Dara Walsh and to the parishioners of St Fintan's for their support once again. Well done!
Bridge Night, a great success
Sincere thanks to all who supported our Bridge Night on April 9, which was a great success (32 tables). Thanks are particularly due to the Captain of the Howth Golf Club, who hosted the event, to the many generous sponsors, which made the night, and of course to Lions Carmel MacCanna and Briege Barrett, who organised the event.
Some £1,100 was made for Lions Charities on the night. Well done all.
