28th July 2003

The new season got under way at the weekend with a hard earned draw against old rivals Inchicore Celtic.  Even though Celtic missed a penalty (keeper Karl Groome will say he would have saved it anyway, we all think he would have too) there is still a lot of room for improvement for the next game against Aungier.  With Carl Cogan making his debut for Inchicore and another of the new faces grabbing the goal things are looking good for Tuesdays game.

15th July 2003

Pre season training began in earnest tonight at Walkinstown Park.  A large number of old faces and some new braved the on rushing thunder storm to get their fitness levels up for the on coming season.  Unfortunately Des Leonard wasn't there tonight but everyone would like to wish him the best at his new club after 10 years of loyal service.

On a sad note for the club, the players and committee would like to send their condolences to our treasurer Martin Murray and his family for the untimely death of his father, may he rest in peace.

The survival of Inchicore Athletic not only depends on the hard work of the committee and the players, but most importantly it's the kind people who sponsor us that keeps us going.  It's with great pleasure that we would like to give thanks to Shay Monaghan Carpets, Old County Road, Crumlin.  Much appreciated, your help will not go unnoticed lads, cheers :).  We would also like to thank Jim Marshall and Connor Noonan for providing us with the old photos of Inchicore Athletic which you can now view in the history and photo sections on the site.

30th June 2003

With the new season almost upon us it's that time of year again where we are looking to blend some new players with our current crop.  If you know anybody or are interested yourself contact Gerard O'Looney or another member of the committee with details.  In other news one of the biggest signings of the pre season is about to take place with news that Des Leonard is about to sign.  Assistant manager Philip Walsh has been quoted to say recently, "Des is one of the most talented footballers of this current crop of players, he's been around so long you just can't imagine an Inchicore team playing without without him".

25th June 2003

The AUL have just released this seasons forthcoming leagues.  Click on the fixtures page to find out who we will have to do battle with this season to get ourselves back where we belong.  Gerard O'Looney has been reported to say "it's going to be tough, we have faced and beaten many of these teams before but we need everyone to be 100% committed".  Also a word of thanks to St Patricks Athletic for giving us a mention and a link on their site, much appreciated lads :).

12th June 2003

The first Inchicore Athletic Annual Race Night has been organised for the 19th of September in Kellys Black Horse Inn.  All are welcome and a good night is in store.  For all you enthusiasts who are itching to get back, pre-season training will begin at 6.30pm in Walkinstown Park on the 15th of July.  If that isn't enough two friendlies have been organised against St Patricks Athletic U21s and UCD U21s.  Venues, dates etc.... will be announced shortly.

1st June 2003

Welcome to our brand new website.  It's the beginning of a new season and a new era for Inchicore Athletic.  We would like to welcome back Ger Looney, Philly Walsh as first team managers, who we hope will lead us back to Premier A, and Derek Smallhorn and Martin Leonard as our brand new second team managers.  New members on the committee include, Tom Kelly our new President,  Martin Murray our new Treasurer and Paul O'Connor (A.K.A.Jock) our new Chairman.

It's going to be a long hard season after suffering the disappointment of relegation last year but with your help, the players that is, we can work hard and get back where we belong.  We would like to see as many of you down at training during the week, even if Man Utd are on the TV.

The website will be updated on a weekly basis so don't forget to log on to find out what's new, when we are training and who we are playing. If you feel you have something to say or would like to wish us luck for the season please sign our guestbook, or drop us an email (the address is on the front page)

Thats all for now so safe drinking wherever you are :)
