4.5.2004 Well it's the end of the season and as is the tradition in seasons gone by Keith Marshall has been named player of the year yet again, how many times is it now Keith? Director of Football David Thorpe picked up the award of Saturdays player of the year with top class performances week in week out. Congratulations go out to Aran Reynolds who took on all comers this season to finish the season as runaway top scorer in the golden boot competition. That's it for the season I'm sure you have enjoyed it, personally I'll never forget Karl Cogans wonder goal against Hamilton; pure brilliance. 12.4.2004 Both teams lost at the weekend in two highly entertaining games. Derek Smallhorne was sprung from the bench on Saturday afternoon early in the second half but even his introduction was not enough to stop the boys losing 3-2 to Valley Park. It was however a brave performance from the lads who trailed 3-0 after twenty minutes play and played out the remaining twenty with only ten men after Matthew Finnegan was sent off. Aran Reynolds grabbed another goal to consolidate his position at the top of the scoring charts for another week. On Sunday morning the boys in Premier B fell to another defeat at the hands of Sheriff YC leaving them with an uphill struggle to avoid relegation with games running out. Inchicore weren't helped by the injury Karl Cogan recieved to his foot and inspirational centre half Sammi Hyppia falling foul to the flu bug that is going around at the moment. 7.4.2004 Lat night at Tymon Park Inchicore were beaten 3-2 by Green Park after leading the game 2-0 at half time. Sean Blake grabbed a brace and but for the width of the post could have led 4-0 going into the break. Those missed chances cost us dear as Green Park rallied in the second half to put more pressure on the boys who are trying to avoid relegation from Premier B. Sean Blake however is making a late surge to finish top scorer, is he worth a bet at this stage of the season?? 5.4.2004 Relegation is still a major concern for the boys in Premier B after Sundays defeat to league hopefuls Valley Park in a wind swept Finglas on Sunday morning. The boys can make up for it tomorrow by getting a good result away to Green Park who look to have the league title in their sights. On Saturday afternoon Inchicore came through a tight encounter at Hamilton with the help of leading goal scorer Aran Reynolds and another from Big Mick McDonald. Both of these guys are battling it out for the golden boot but with games running out can Mick pull off one of the biggest upsets of the year?? Keep logging on to find out who will come out on top. 22.3.2004 Sean Blake scored his second goal of the season in a man of the match performance to give Inchicore three vital points in their bid to avoid relegation from Premier B. It was a hard fought win in a wind swept Donaghmede on Sunday morning not made any easier with Gerard Marshalls sending off on the hour mark. This coming Sunday sees a six pointer against St Pauls in Walkinstown Park, everyones support on the side line would be truly welcome as another victory is vital. On Saturday afternoon it seemed that the effects of the previous nights entertainment in Kellys took its toll as the boys went down by five goals to one to Blackditch Utd. Big Mick McDonald showed no signs of fatigue as he grabbed his fourth of the season with another wonder strike, how do you do it Mick?? A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped organise the Race Night last Friday, a great time was had by all, too much drink I think!! 9.3.2004 It was another great weekend results wise for both teams with Martin Leonards team gaining revenge for their away loss to Clifden Celtic on Saturday afternoon. Aran Reynolds shrugged off the jet lag to grab his seventh of the season with Peter Behan chipping in with his first of the season to seal the win. On Sunday in Premier B it's now three wins on the trot for Ger and Dereks charges with a comfortable win over bottom team Donaghmede. Gary Donovan was the teams inspiration with another man of the match display which led to his internet fan finally heaping some well deserved praise upon him. If last weeks strike by Karl Cogan was out of this world it would have to be said that Paddy Dunnes effort was a close second. Paddy saw the keeper off his line and with one of his trademark scissor kicks lobbed him from twenty yards. It would have to be said Paddy that the goal was maybe only good enough to win the Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race, the jury is still out on that one :). Don't forget about the Race Night coming up get your horses early before they're all gone. 1.3.2004 There was some bad news regarding last weeks huge win over Neilstown as it was discovered after the match that one of our players was not signed due to a clerical error. This led to us losing all three points last Sunday making the trip to Hamilton yesterday a little bit tricky. However Karl Cogan thought differently when he scored a goal that was good enough to win the League, the Cup, the Champions League and the Grand National after he struck home from just inside Hamiltons half of the pitch with a superb volley. This set up another win in Premier B for Inchicore with Barry Smith grabbing his first of the season and Gary Donovan putting in another fine performance on the right wing. Unfortunately things didn't go according to plan on Saturday with the team losing by three goals to one to Bawnville at the Brickfields. Just in case you haven't heard there is a mid-season race night planned for the 19th of March at Kellys Black Horse Inn so please don't forget to mark it in your diary. 23.2.2004 Both teams secured wins over the weekend making it one of the most exciting weekends of the season for everyone involved. On Saturday the team had to fight back from being three goals down to beat a tough Elm Mount side. If it wasn't for Derek Smallhorne, who made a dramatic comeback to football at the interval, and a man of the match display from Matt Mahony Inchicore would not have won the game. Gary Donovan also put in a man of the match display on Sunday to sink his home town Neilstown, to read more about this game click here. With the race for the golden boot hotting up it seems that no-one can stop Mick Mooney from grabbing the award after netting his ninth of the season. However Director of Football David Thorpe netted a brace on Saturday to keep the pressure on. 17.2.2004 It was a mixed weekend of results again for us here with the Saturday team winning their second game on the trot and the Sunday team going down narrowly to a very efficient Killbarrack team. If you would like to read about Sundays game it can be seen in today's Star newspaper. David Thorpe made up for last weeks red card with a goal that will surely be a contender for goal of the season. Jamie Stears is beginning to push Mick Mooney for the golden boot award after scoring his second goal in as many games on Saturday. Jamie is now only three goals behind Mick and is well placed to take the honours at the end of the season. 9.2.2004 Inchicore got a massive result at the weekend with a hard fought win over Division 1A Saturday rivals Green Park. The goals came from Jamie Stears and Mick Mooney scored the winner with his eighth of the season. Mick is now two goals clear in the race for the golden boot at the end of the season. In Sundays friendly against Whitehall Anthony Mahony scored an own goal to send Ger Looneys team crashing to another defeat making this weekends tie against Premier B hopefuls Killbarrack all the more daunting. In other news it was a bad weekend all round for Director of Football David Thorpe. Having admitting that his strike against Clifden last week was in fact an own goal he managed to get himself sent off against Green Park. 2.2.2004 It's been a quiet few weeks so far with the weather playing havoc with most of both teams games. David Thorpe did score a goal last Saturday but it wasn't enough to save Martin Leonards side from defeat and end their unbeaten streak. There is just the one game this weekend with the Saturday team travelling to play Green Park, lets hope they don't suffer a repeat result like the last time they met at the Brickfields earlier in the season. 19.1.2004 The first weekend back after the Xmas break saw Inchicore extend their unbeaten run in Div 1A Saturday to four games with a hard fought draw at home to league leaders Valley Park. Gareth Doyle scored his first goal for the club with what could be a contender for goal of the season. However the goal was overshadowed by Ger Looneys wonder performance at left full. Everyone present on Saturday was left stunned as Looney rolled back the years to put in the game of his life to prove there is still some life in the old dog yet. Mick Mooney pulled away at the top of the golden boot charts with his seventh goal of the season. In other news Dermot Farrells position as Saturday manager looks to be in doubt today as it looks like he resigned on Saturday, we will bring you more on this matter as we recieve more information over the week. 12.1.2004 What a game we witnessed yesterday between Dermot Farrells team and Ger Looneys Premier B side. A dull game came to life at the end when David Hope scored for the Saturday team only to see his strike ruled out by a penalty from Barry Greene. It was a good natured game and the best way for both teams to blow away the Xmas cobwebs before they continue their assaults on Div 1A Saturday and Premier B Sunday. Club tracksuits are now available to buy along with fleeces and polo shirts. They look very well indeed as modelled by the select few who bought them before the Xmas break, hurry up and put your order in before it's too late. 6.1.2004 Welcome back everybody I hope you all had a good Christmas with lots of beer and a bit of crack thrown in for good measure. We would like to wish everybody who lends their support to the club a happy new year, hopefully we will turn things around results wise to give everyone something to cheer about. Unfortunately too much beer seemed to be consumed over the Xmas period with Ger Looneys team going down 6-0 to a well organised Usher Celtic outfit. Training will resume this coming Thursday and an extra session has been arranged for this Sunday in the Iveagh grounds, this should help us all get back to the way we were fitness wise before the Christmas break. For anyone who hasn't heard the new Newsletter was launched last month, thanks to Hayley and Gareth Byrne especially who popped them into a few houses around the area, without them it wouldn't have been the success it was.
