Dick Wafer
Chair
Dick has been involved in Ireland's WSDC teams since we first sent a team to the Championships in Wales in 1995. A teacher in Castleknock College, he has coached every Irish team sent to the Championships, and has been at the heart of the Council throughout its history.
Jim McElroy
Jim was a member of the team that competed in WSDC Israel in 1998. He also traveled as a judge to WSDC 2000. During his university career, Jim has had success at numerous intervarsities, won the Irish Mace in 2002, and is also a two-times runner-up in the Irish Times competition. He competed in WUDC in Glasgow in 2001 & Toronto in 2002. Jim is a former Convenor of the Irish Mace, and recently judged the Grand Final at WSDC 2003 in Peru.
Sarah Deeny
Sarah was a member of the 2001 team that partook in the Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is an Irish Times Finalist and an Irish Mace semi-finalist. Sarah has twice reached the final of the Vice-President's Cup Intervarsity, and topped the tab at this year's competition. She has broken at Oxford, and competed in the final of the University College Cork Intervarsity, and adjudicated at WUDC in Stellenbosch in 2003. She also judged at the recent World Schools' Championships in Stuttgart. She is currently studying microbiology.
Noel McGrath
Noel first competed in WSDC in South Africa in 2001. The following year, he captained the team that won the Championships in Singapore in 2002. At university level, he is an Irish Times Finalist and an Irish Mace semi-finalist, and has reached the Final of the Dean Swift and Kingsmill Moore Invitational Intervarsities, and topped the tab in the latter. He has broken at Oxford. He was an Octo-Finalist at the World University Debating Championships at Singapore 2004. Noel judged at the World Schools' Championships in Stuttgart. At present, Noel is studying law.
Cian Murphy
Cian was part of the Irish team that won WSDC in Singapore in 2002. In university, he is an Irish Times semi-finalist, and a two times U.C.D. Law Society Intervarsity finalist. He won the Vice-President's Cup in 2003, and broke at Oxford in the same year. He is a Finalist in the Kingsmill-Moore Invitational Intervarsity and the National Law Debates 2004, and topped the tab at the latter event. He is a winner of the Dean Swift Intervarsity. He competed in WUDC in Stellenbosch & Singapore, at EUDC in 2003. He won the John Smith Memorial International Mace last year, and is studying law.
