Alix Le Juge was born and grew up in South Africa. She graduated as a Graphic Designer from the Technikon Natal in Durban in 1988. After having worked for a few years in advertising and design in Durban, Port Louis (Mauritius) and Johannesburg respectively, she settled in Mauritius where she works solely as a Fine Artist and has been exhibiting since 1992.

Alix’s abstract oil on canvas paintings are a lot about the emotional side of colour and personal feelings. Initial inspiration is linked with words. She starts out with a phrase which describes exactly her feelings about something, and then paints. “Boats are my old favourite subject” she says. “I love the grace, movement and light that they transport but more recently I have been painting faces which really describe my emotions”.

Between 1991 and 2003 she has exhibited in various Group Exhibitions including those organised by The Mahatma Ghandi Institute, The National Art Gallery, The French Cultural Centre and The Triennial of Contemporary Art of The Indian Ocean in Mauritius. Solo Exhibitions include five between 1991 and 2002 at Galleries in Mauritius and one at the Botanical Conservation of Réunion Island in 1997. Alix’s has also worked on various painting Commissions for Hotels throughout the island of Mauritius including those for The Shandrani Hotel, Beachcomber Group of Hotels, The Maritim Hotel, The "La Bourdonnais" Hotel, The Sands Hotel, Merville Hotel, The Touesserok Hotel for Sun International Group of Hotels, The Citroën showrooms, Mauritius.
