JCC
Projects offer members the opportunity to contribute to the development
of the local community and to raise money for worthy causes. The
Soccer Tournament in May raised 1558
euros for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Summer Project. A cheque
to that amount was recently presented to Nick Killian (CEO of the Irish
Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus) at a function
in Myo's. Other 2002 projects include the Lord Mayor of Castleknock
(November), and the Giving Tree Appeal (December).
The Giving Tree
Appeal is organised by JCC in conjunction with St. Vincent de Paul and
the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. Members of the
public select one from thousands of Christmas cards hung on a giant
Christmas tree in the BSC, and buy
a present for the child named inside the card. Last year over 2500 presents
were collected for St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonsilla,
Friends for Friends (HIS Childrens Charity, Crumlin Hospital), and the
Women and Children's Refuge.
