The aim of the School authorities is to create an environment which is conducive  to study and to participation in the various activities of school life.  The happiness and well being of the whole school community is of paramount importance and the hope is that in a pleasant and safe atmosphere every student will have a sense of “ belonging”.

Students are encouraged to participate in the different activities as contact with other students and teamwork develop a sense of responsibility and self respect.  Within the school system it is imperative that discipline be maintained.  Punctuality, politeness, tidiness and application to work are essential elements.

 

1                    Students shall show respect and courtesy to all members of the staff and to one another.  Intimidation of any kind is strictly forbidden.  Students shall comply with all reasonable requests and instructions from teachers.

 

2                    The complete school uniform must be worn at all times as per note (i) below, unless otherwise directed by the School authorities.

 

3.                   A high standard of classwork and study shall be required in all subjects.  Each student shall have and maintain a School Journal.  (See note (ii) below).

 

4.                   Students shall not leave the School grounds during school hours without written consent from their parents or guardians (see note (iii) below), or without permission from the School authorities.  All students leaving the School grounds during the school day must sign out, and they must sign in if returning on the same day.

 

5.                   Students shall attend all classes regularly and punctually.  No student shall absent himself/herself from any class period, or part thereof, without the express permission of the teacher in charge.  Each student shall report his/her late arrival in school to the School authorities. Parents are requested to provide notes of explanation where pupils are absent.

 

6.                   Students shall be responsible for their own property.  They shall also respect school property and the property of others.

 

7.                   Students shall, at all times, act in a manner conducive to safety. 

 

8.                   Students shall show respect to and maintain the environment of the School and adjacent areas.

 

9.                   (i)         The following items are forbidden within the School:

                                  (a) Correcting Fluid.

                                  (b) Chewing Gum.

                                  (c) Cigarettes.

                                  (d) Walkmans.

                                  (e) Markers

                                  (f) Alcohol.

                                  (g) Drugs.

                                  (h) Knives and sharp instruments.

                                  (i)  Aerosol Sprays

                      (ii)        Unauthorised use of Mobile Phones is not allowed.  Students carry Mobile Phones at their own risk and should keep them     switched off at all times unless authorised to use them.

                      (iii)       It is the policy of the Board of Management of the school to expel pupils found in possession of illegal substances.

                     

 

10.                 Students involved in extra-curricular activities must comply with all of the above rules.

                      Students may wear a watch and one neat hand ring.   No other jewellery or tattoos are acceptable.

 

(ii)                  The School Journal may be used for the following purposes:-

                      (a) Recording homework set.

                      (b) Notes of explanation from parents/guardians regarding absenteeism or failure to complete homework.

                      (c) Notes from teachers regarding pupils’ behaviour, performance, etc.

                        The School Journal shall be available at all times and be produced to teachers on request.

 

  (iii)                 Lunch Time Passes will be issued to pupils who wish to leave the school for lunch.  These must be applied for in writing by parents and will be withdrawn where pupils are in breach of the conditions under which they are granted.
