Links In order to further its aims and objectives, the KMI Institute of Theology and Cultures is closely associated with a number of groups with similar interests: Every two years the Institute participates in a Gathering of Mission Training Personnel - a European based, interdenominational group which meets to discuss current issues and perspectives which emerge from their shared experience of preparing people for opening up the christian message in diverse cultures. The Institute is a corporate member of the British and Irish Association
for Mission Studies [BIAMS], an ecumenical group of people engaged
in mission at one level or another, and which seeks to promote the study
of the history, theology and practice of Christian mission; to encourage
awareness of the major issues in contemporary mission; and to provide
a meeting point for mutual enrichment, challenge and collaboration in
mission. This is done through facilitating the flow of information through
networking, through conferences, publications, and the facilitation of
special interest groups. BIAMS may be contacted through Among the other corporate members of BIAMS, and with whom the KMI Institute of Theology and Cultures is associated, are Church Missionary Society
(CMS, Ireland), the largest of the Church of Ireland mission agents.

The Institute does some work in association with Partners in Faith Trust, an agency for personal and social development through education of adults from a faith perspective. Committed to the Catholic Tradition, the agency emphasises the social justice dimension of faith and works through courses and action-research projects in local communities. It gives priority to people in areas where economic resources are limited, and works on the basis that a small faith community is the best setting for people to correlate critical reflection on life experience and culture, dialogue with the Tradition, and prayer and action for change. From its earliest days, the Institute has had a good working relationship
with the Irish School of Ecumenics. The ISE has most recently assisted
the Institute in setting up its own ecumenics programme, while in the
past, lecturers from the Institute have taught on their programmes. The
ISE may be contacted for information about their post-graduate programmes
in Ecumenical Studies and in Peace Studies, as well as their Adult Education
