THE RESULTS FOR SEASON
1987-1988
HISTORY
Leeside played in the First Division for the first time.
1987-88
We got off to a poor start to our league campaign and as a result our
Manager resigned .
His successor Richard O' Donoughue brought about a change in fortune.We
went on a run that
was to see us beaton only once in 22 games.
In the FAI Junior cup we were beaten by Casement Cetic in the first round.
In the Munster
Junior Cup we reached the last round in the Cork section but were knocked
out by eventual winners Douglas Hall 3 - 2.
In the AOH Cup ,we got to the last 16 but we were beaten by Mayfield
United 4 - 3 after extra time.
In the County Cup we were unlucky to lose out to Castle Celtic over two
legs, the scorline was 2 - 1.Castle Celtic went on to win the competition.
And in the St Michaels Cup, we went down narrowly to Mayfield United, 2 -
1 after extra time.
Top Scorers for the season were :
Frank Horgan 26 goals
John O Sullivan 14 goals
One of the high points of the season was when Frank Horgan
was chosen as Tennents Player of the month for March, a great personal
achievment for Frank and a great honour for the club.
1988-89
A dissapointing season all round, We didn't fair well in any of the cup
competitions, and our League form was very erratic . The result of all
this was that we had no silverware to show for our endevours.
Our best performance of the year was our run in the County Cup , we
managed to reach te semi-final before losing out to the eventual winners.
Our Player of the year was Paddy Ward.
