THE SEASON 1991/92
HISTORY
1991-92
Leesides first year in premier football.
This was our first year in the premier division and our main aim was to
hold our position there for the next season.
This was achived with a mid table finish.The team was very happy with this
position , well done to all involved.
The teams real success this year was achived in the A.O.H.cup.We reached
the semi-final for the first time,against Crescent Athletic.The game was
played in Rockmount Park, we started well creating one or two half
chances,all square after half an hour and Leeside had a great chance to go
in to the lead,a great ball across the Cresent goal was met by a Leeside
leg but in stretching for the ball was unable to guide the ball home.This
was our one and only clear cut chance .Cresent scored and though we tried
hard we were unable to get the goal back.
Leeside team who reached the semi final of the AOH Cup
and did well in there first year in the premier league.
THE SCHOOLBOYS.
Both school boys teams had very successful seasons.The under 17 team
finished runners up in there league ,while a very young under 18 team
finished in mid table,with most players able to play next season this team
could do very well.
Pitch Development.
During the year the club announced its proposal to purchase and develop
the site of the existing Leeside pitch.It was proposed to build a
community hall and dressing rooms and develop a new pitch.This was a major
undertaking for the club.
