about me

Introduction

I was one of the first students in Ireland to be lucky enough to study a brand new course on offer from the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology. This course was born from a lack of Multimedia specialists in Ireland and aimed to fill an ever growing gap in this sector.

The first three years led to a Diploma in Multimedia Computing, while successful students who made the grade could progress to the add on degree. The overall aim of the Degree was to respond to the needs of the industry by producing degree level graduates with the balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work in the computing and multimedia sectors, with a particular expertise in the technical design of multimedia systems.

Also:
- to cover a broad range of subject matter in computing and multimedia at degree level standard in response to industry consultation;

- to place a particular emphasis on the technical design of multimedia systems in response to industry consultation;
- to achieve the above in the context of the interdisciplinary environment at iadt-dl

Experience

My previous work experience has included a wide variety of roles:

a direct sales agent, working in "instant activations" with Interoute Ireland
a technical support technician with Gateway Computers
an Assistant Web Manager in an Internet company, Bluepages Ltd
a freelance Web Designer

Whilst at the same time the site had to facilitate:

an easy up dateable back end, allowing for the online booking*
rapid growth in the number of customers using the booking service

* it is proposed that a PHP - SQL back end will be incorporated to process customer queries and to develop a customer/client searchable database. (see ongoing for more)
