Our Visit to the Art Exhibition

I went to Trinity College with my class and my teacher. We went on a bus. The two Third Classes went. There were lots of people there. It was fun and beautiful.

I was excited when I got into Trinity College. The pictures were colourful and nice. Jack B.Yeats loved horses and loved to draw them. He drew a picture with a circus in it. The Art Exhibition was good. I will go there next time. The girl who brought us around was nice and friendly.

Alleluia

On Sunday December, 19, we went to the Point Theatre for the Halleluia Concert. We had been preparing for a while and had worked very hard for the concert. We were singing in the choir. We sang a lot of songs.

We had to meet the teacher at the school at about 9.15 a.m. We travelled by bus to the Point. When we arrived at the theatre it was not long before we were given our places.

Gearoid Grant came out on stage to conduct us. We had a practice round first and then had a break to eat our lunch. Soon the audience started arriving. We sang songs like "Do you hear what I hear?" My favourite was a cartoon medley, called "Name that Toon". We were singing with lots of singers. We were sitting on a side balcony so we could see everything. The Billy Barry kids performed a dance and song on stage. Other songs we sang were "Lean on Me", a Percy French medley and a Westlife Medley.

I thought it was really good and I really enjoyed it. I would go agaiin. The show was sold out. The show started at 2.15 p.m. and finished at about 4.30 p.m. The audience really seemed to enjoy the whole show.

We went to the Douglas Hyde Gallery at Trinity College. We saw nearly all of Jack B.Yeat's paintings. My favourite painting was, "He will not Sign", because it looked so realistic. A girl showed us around. She was very polite. Her name was Elena.

We looked out in the courtyard and saw lots of buildings with clocks on them. We walked on stones and they were called cobble stones.

My friends and I thought it was very good. Jodie and I sat together on the bus. In all it was a very good day.

A Trip to the Cinema

We went to the pictures and McDonalds We didn't need to bring our school bags because we weren't going to be doing any school work!

When the bus came the two Fourth Classes got on with their teachers. We had to walk a bit to the cinema when we got off the bus. We went in just as the film was about to start.

The Film was called "Five Children and It". It was funny and enjoyable. When the film was over we went to McDonalds. We all got Happy Meals and drinks. We got the bus to go back to the school.

It was a brilliant day out.

Visit to a Clockmaker's Shop

The students from the English Language Class went to visit a Clockmaker's Shop in Wicklow St. The workshop was upstairs. We climbed 72 steps to get to it! When we opened the door a little bell rang so that the men knew we had come.

It was a very old workshop and two pelple worked in it. William mended the clocks and Paul mended watches.

There were many different styles of clocks - grandfather clocks, wall clocks, carriage clocks, mantle clocks, cuckoo clocks and ornamental clocks.

William, the clockmaker, showed us a key for winding clocks and he gave us the key to take back to the school.

We had a very interesting visit.
