The Art class are doing felt birds. They’re designing the birds with coloured wool.

They have a little box with blue wool and they put soapy water in the box and press down (the wool must be wet and slippery).

They take different blue coloured wool and put a tiny bit of it in the box and press down. Then they take the coloured wool and cut it in the shape they need.

When they are finished that, they put bubble wrap on their pictures and press down. Then they turn the coloured carded wool with the, with their pictures on the coloured carded wool, on the other side and press down again. After that they squeezed the water out of the coloured carded wool. They get a big piece of bubble wrap and put the coloured carded wool on it, cover it and dry it. If it is falling out of the coloured carded wool, put some soapy water on it and rub it on the bubble wrap.

Today the girls from Loreto Primary School were attending different classes in the school. One of the classes was art.

In the art class the girls were making colourful birds made from all different kinds of wool and warm soapy water. They put the blue wool in a container and then they poured the water over it. Then they began felting the wool. Then they make a bird from white paper and spread wool over it. When this is done the bird is very colourful. When they are all finished the project the art will be hung around the school.

All the teachers and girls enjoyed it. The girls thought it was very messy, interesting and extremely funny.
