The folk dance section: Reinlender!

In folkdance there  are two groups.  Ciara D and Sarah C went and interviewed a few girls and one teacher.

There was one girl Bray who said it was boring and slow and also she prefers hip- hop. Also I interviewed another girl out of sixth class named Rebecca she said it was a great experience  because it is her last year. She thinks it’s fantastic that they brought their culture over to our school. I think she is right. And lastly I talked to one of the folkdance teacher named Synnøve. She told me the population in Norway is four and a half million.

When we went over to the hall we saw the teachers showing the children one of the dances. This dance is called The March.

The March is a dance that is very interesting the music that was played was very similar to Irish music. When they were first dancing some people found it difficult but when they practised it was very simple. Then they moved on to a different dance and that dance was called the Polynesian. This dance is based on kings and queens because kings and queens were always dancing to it.

Singing

The next thing they did was singing.  That song was called the Norwegian song.

It was one of the best songs I have ever heard.  Everybody who was singing looked like they were enjoying themselves.  It was very interesting.

Interview

Helen 3rd class said that she enjoyed it and would like to do it again.

Tara 3rd class said that it was hard because of all the steps but she enjoyed it

Lauren 4th class said she didn’t do this before but she would like to do this again.

Nikita 4th class said she would  remember it all if she was to do it again .

In a group there are two people. Ciara and I went interviewing people and not many people liked it, but I interviewed a girl called Rachel and she thought it was brilliant and a new experience.

If I was in it I would love it to bits. I wondered why some people didn’t like it, maybe it just wasn’t their style. If I was the dance teachers I would not feel good if nobody liked my dance class so if I was in that class and if I didn’t like it I would  at least say I liked it to make the dance teacher feel good about herself.
