Student activities

The humour section: Help the blind!

When we went into the room they were watching a video of some stand up comedy.  Some of the students found it very amusing.  We thought it was very funny.  The video finished at 9:45.  Then they played a game after wards.

The teacher put on some music and they had to listen to the beat of the music. Each person walked around the room and listened to the music. Someone would stop and then everyone would stop. Anybody could stop so it was very funny to see them just keep walking around and around until finally someone would stop. The person who stopped could not start again so someone else would have to. It’s like follow the leader. They found it very funny and embarrassing too. After a while they would do some dance moves and they found it funny watching the teachers doing it.

At 9:55 they started a new game. It was a concentrating game. They clapped from one person to the other. It was like a game of dominoes. We joined in for a while and found it very enjoyable.

At 10:00 they started another game called “Help the blind.” One person would go behind and help the person in front. The person in front closed her eyes and got taken around the room. It was all to do with trust. When we went back they were playing charades. It looked like a lot of fun.

At 10:45 they were set into teams to do a dance with activities. There were 5 groups. The 1st group did a day at school, so they would have to dance to the activities they would do at school. The 2nd group did work, the 3rd group did recess, the 4th group did shopping and the 5th group did the morning. They were having a lot of fun.  We interviewed 2 girls.

The humour of Norway is different to the humour of Ireland. They did Drama, half of the class was pretending to be blind and the other half of the class was pretending to be deaf. The deaf person led the blind person around the room. Sometimes they swapped partner. They always swapped around.

They watched a movie. Two students had done a project on the English Language. They told the class about their addictions. The girl’s addictions were Television and Food. The Norwegian teachers brought a video of Irish River-dance to the school. Some of the boys in the school tried to do it. They put on a show for the teachers. The teachers recorded it. Two boys dressed up as Britney and Christina and put on the Battle of the Pop Princesses. Everyone got in a circle and one by one they stepped into the middle of the circle. Everyone gave a big round of applause. After that they made up a dance to with the morning. Then they told Irish Jokes. Then they played a game of Norwegian Charades.
