Fergus Leaves for Australia

Slán leat Fergus.

Fergus left us on Friday 30th March, 2001 to travel to William Carey Christian School, Prestons, NSW,  Australia.  He was snug in his little backpack, kindly donated by Kerrie, and he carried his passport with him and our profiles which we bound into a book along with some photos of our school and other information.  We included some brochures about Dublin and a guidebook so he could show the Australian children where we come from.

Fergus' First Assignment

Fergus will be going on camp, on April 12th, with 5R at William Carey Christian School: Siobhan, Jacintha, Kim, Jarred, Lizbeth, Katrina, Thomas, Brooke, Rhys, Timothy, Bethany, Nicole, Simon, Lisa, Daniel, Hannah, Joel, Stephanie, Michael and Ryan and of course their teacher Ms. Rivers.

This camp does not sound like our school tours.  The children will stay at an old Goldrush town with primitive facilities - no running water, no central heating ... in fact they will be living as children did over 100 years ago.

We hope Fergus survives!  Will he strike gold?

We can't wait for his first e-mail and photos.

Our Australian Buddy

Ecky is on his way.  He is an echidna.  We can't wait to see him and introduce him to life in Ballygall.

This is what an echidna looks like.
