Travel Buddy Project

Bealle Elementary School, Rockville, Maryland

Harry is fifth grade's buddy.  He represents 10 children from Bealle Elementary School.  He arrived in Ballygall on April 5th 2001.    He was carrying introductory letters from his friends as well as his diary, a camera, a book about Washington DC and some gifts which we really appreciated.

Ignatius is our buddy.  He travelled to Bealle Elementary School, Rockville, Maryland, USA on April 6th 2001.

Ten of us will be working with a group of ten children from Bealle Elementary School, Rockville, Maryland.

We wrote introductory letters and profiles of ourselves and bound them in a book along with some photos of our school and some maps of Dublin showing where to find us.  We also included Ignatius' passport, a camera, a diary and some postcards and small gifts.

Thank you Ms. Mitchell for knitting our little buddy for us.

Our buddy,  is a leprechaun called Ignatius.  We called him after the leprechaun in a song we learned in second class.   We sang the song and taped it and posted it along with Ignatius.

We also taped some Irish phrases and greetings.

Harry went straight to the computer room to send an e-mail home.  He couldn't wait as he had a really busy first day.  He met the principal Sr. Marie Dunne, the school secretary Mrs. Marie Byrne and then went on a tour of the school with Kellie and Rachel.  Ciara brought him home and wrote the first entry in his diary.  Emma will mind him for the weekend.
