Nature and Purpose of Project

Title:

An Artefact Supporting a Presentation to M. Sc. in IT in Ed. Students.

Goals

  1. To design an artefact to act as a presentation aid in a lecture to post-graduate students on the topic of 'Technology and Education.'
  2. To develop an artefact that will be incorporated into a web site,allowing the user to review the main elements of the presentation.
  3. To allow the author to develop key skills in the use of Macromedia Flash 5.0 in an educational setting.

Audience

The arfetact will first be used by the author during a presentation to posgraduate students on the M. Sc. IT in Ed. course at Trinity College, Dublin. it is anticipated that the artefact, when incorporated into a web site, will be used by these post-graduate students for course review and revision purposes.

Tools

The primary tool for the contruction of the presentation is Macromedia Flash 5.0. The suppporting web site is developed with Macromedia Dreamweaver 3.0. Additional graphics were prepared and edited with Corel Draw 8.0.

Planning

Schedule of work:

  1. Research and preparation of supporting material: drafting of text for inclusion in presentation.
  2. Preparation of flow diagam detailing main linkages and sections of the presentation.
  3. Design of template and incorporation of necessary navigation.
  4. Design of standard navigation buttons.
  5. Incorporation of main text into frames/scenes.
  6. Testing of presentation.
  7. Publishing movie in .exe and .html formats.
  8. Incorporation of published presentation into M. Sc. IT in Education portfolio.
