Introduction

Portfolios on the M. Sc. in IT in Education Programme

For the M. Sc. IT in Ed. programme, participants are required to prepare a portfolio which will catalogue their work as well as their observations during the course. It will be, by its nature, a 'work in progress' that will grow and develop over the two years of the programme.

The objectives for this presentation are:

  • To provide an overview of the use of portfolios is assessment and professional development.
  • To explore a number of portfolio formats and to discuss the key elements that constitute a professional portfolio.
  • To identify the characteristic elements of a 'reflective portfolio.'
  • To explore the ways in which ICT can 'add value' to the preparation of a portfolio.
  • To develop general guidelines on good practice on the preparation of a portfolio for the M. Sc. in IT in Education.
