Using Style Sheets for HTML Formatting

It is good practice to separate page formatting from the main content of the web page. This is facilitated through the use of cascading style sheets (.css sheets).

Style sheets work most effectively with browsers such as Internet Explorer 4.0 equivalent and higher.

For a page to use a style sheet, the sheet must be referenced in the HEAD section of the page. For example:

This referes to the file 'textstyle.css' in the 'styles' sub-directory.

The following example of a portion of a style sheet details the formatting for the Heading 2 (H2) and paragraph (P) text for the web page:
