The
earliest Oxbrow we have been able to trace is a Henry Oxbrow
who was born before 1682 and died on 11 September 1730 in Bocking,
Essex. He married Prudence Godwin on 25 May 1702 in Bocking.
She was also born in Bocking. In 1704 Edward gave his occupation
as Weaver.
We have traced four children, although something is a bit suspect as we have
Henry born 1704 died February 9 1747. There was also Henry Oxbrow born 1711.
It is more usual to find a child with the same name when the first child
has died! The following were found in the Bocking records.

Henry was
born in 1704 in Bocking and died on 9 February 1747/48. Aged 22 he
married Sarah Inous (at least this is what the name looks like!)
on 16 June 1726. We know that this information is for the first of
the two Henry Oxbrow brothers as his age at date of death was 43
and also the other Henry would have got married at 15. Sarah didn't
waste time and married James Tanner in 1748, the year her husband
died.
We have traced three children of the Henry born in 1704::

So
unless we find more children, this branch died out.
The
Parish Records of Bocking show that John Oxbrow born 1709 was
married on 21 November 1734 to Mary Earl. From this it is deduced
that he was born before 1714.
John
and Mary had eight children. All were christened in the Parish Church
of Bocking.

John Oxbrow
(my ancestor) was born on 6 February 1738/39 in Bocking, the son
of John Oxbrow and Mary Earl, and died on 3 August 1818 in Braintree.
He married Sarah Sittison on 17 June 1762 in Braintree. Although
John was buried in Braintree it was noted on his burial details that
he was from the parish of Bocking. At his marriage both he and his
wife did not sign but marked with an X.
The
Joseph Oxbrow who married Ruth Brown and created the "other" Oxbrows
was born in 1763. This would mean that he could hardly be the son
of Henry as Henry would have been 14 at the time of his birth. Unless
we haven't found one of John and Mary's sons he must have been born
to a cousin of John.
4 children
of John and Sarah have been traced in Braintree records.

The line
I am tracing is descended from Joseph.
