THE DOWNS G.A.A. NOTES
A.C.L Division 3
The Downs 1 – 8 Coralstown-Kinnegad 2 - 6
The second team got their league campaign off the ground in a wet Kinnegad on Saturday last, but suffered a one point defeat to the home side.
Both teams found the underfoot conditions hard to cope with, with Kinnegad getting on the scoreboard first. The Downs countered immediately with a point and the remainder of the half was dominated by both teams at different times with The Downs going in at the break leading 0 – 5 to 0 – 4.
The Downs started the second half brightly scoring 1 – 1 without reply to go five clear. Kinnegad hit form for a three minute spell, scoring two goals, the second from a penalty and a point, to take a two point lead. Despite great efforts, we were unable to get a result from the game, just pulling back one point to lose by a point.
Team: Senan Maguire, Pat Doherty, Sean O’Leary, Paul Rowan, Paul Shanley, Seamus O’Leary, Stephen Cleary, Fergal Fagan, J P Monaghan, Conor Carley, Brian Wright, Pat Leavy, Kieran Carroll, James Conroy.
