Certificate in Child Psychotherapy
This course is designed as a supplementary training for qualified therapists and psychologists, who wish to work creatively with children and young people. Traditional psychotherapy training focuses on work with adults. This specialised course will build on core training to develop the expertise and skills necessary to work successfully with young clients.

The Child Psychotherapy course starts in November each year and is only open to psychotherapists, psychologists and child psychiatrists. There are seven modules: two three day modules and five two day modules. All modules take place over weekends.

The course is based in Ballymore, Co Westmeath.

Traditional ‘talking therapies’ do not meet the needs of children – the language of childhood is play. Child centred therapy involves the use of creative techniques and media (sand play, therapeutic stories, art, drama, music etc) and takes account of the child’s developmental level, dependency, and emerging needs. This course includes modules in Client-Centred Play Therapy, The Dimensions Model, Dance Movement Therapy, Art Therapy, and Dramatherapy.

Further information on this course is in the Course Details, which you can download by clicking below. To apply, download the application form below, complete, and return to CTC.
