Nose The nose opens with a wonderful smoke and peat aroma, which is quickly overcome by the sweet smell of the malted barley. Plenty of vanilla and the rich fruitiness of a Christmas pudding. Taste A gentle sweet start to the palate, making way to a warming spice and a rich oakiness of great depth and complexity which fills the mouth. Hints of toffee and pot still. Finish Long and warm, hangs on with the malt refusing to go away. Impressive bourbon and vanilla notes make themselves known at the very death. Comments This whiskey has an overall rich mellow flavour of great depth and unusual complexity. The colour is wonderfully rich with a late summer evening amber glow. It is ideally enjoyed as an after dinner digestif, warmed in the hand, straight or with a splash of water which will help to release the taste and aroma. |
