There is a wide variety of accommodation on Syros, ranging from the budget hostel to the more up market hotel. Ermoupoli has a good range of accommodation, as have most of the major holiday resorts. There is usually no problem getting accommodation in Syros, most of the time. The island is well stocked with rooms, guesthouses, hotels, studios etc. Many hotels etc will meet incoming ferries and provide brochures of their facilities, information on their prices as well as lift to the establishment in question.

Syros is a reasonably small island and has a good transport system, so you don't have to stay in the capital Ermoupoli. All of the tourist sites have good places to stay. The places listed on this page are known personally to the author of the website aand can be recommended by him . However, I am sure sure that any visitor to Syros would be able to give his/her list of personal favourite places to stay, that would bear no comparison to this list!

Ermoupoli

Ipatia Guesthouse (3 Babagiotoou , Ermoupoli Tel: 2281 083 575) is located in a fine position overlooking the bay in Ermoupoli. It is originally an 19th century house, but it has been very well restored. Rooms cost about €30/40 for a single/double room.

Aegli Hotel (14 Klisthenous, Ermoupoli Tel: 2281 079 279). At the upper end of the market with rooms costing 80/90 for a single/double room. Upper balconies have great views over the port. You could spend a whole evening on your balcony just watching life pass you by! The town centre is just a stroll away as are all restaurants and nightlife.

Charming apartments in a traditional but modern building. Just a few minutes from the centre of town.

Around the island

Galissas

Two Hearts Camping (Tel: 2281 042 052 www.twohearts-camping.com).
This campsite is set about 4000m from the beach in Galissas. It has reasonable facilities.
A minibus from the campsite meet incoming ferries and will bring you to your ferry or plane when you are leaving.

Oasis (Tel: 2281042 357 cost €20/30 per single/double) About 400m from the village of Galissas and set in a little farm. The rooms here are extremely pleasant, well furnished and despite being near a thriving tourist village, it is surprising quiet. All rooms have balconies, from which there are pleasant view over Galissas and the surrounding area.

Hotel Domenica (Tel: 2281061 216 cost €50/60 per single/double room)
A modern pleasant hotel with efficient service and a friendly smile.

Hotel Kamelo (Tel: 2281 061 217) Just down the road from the Domenica and right on the beach, this is another friendly place with a reasonable beach restaurant.
