My name is Augustin-Austin Joseph Rock, but like my father I use the name Austin. I am the sixth generation of a Dublin City Family, I say sixth generation, because that is as far as I can go back. My family, this generation excluded, where stone cutters and sculptors, their origins are unknown. There was a story amongst us that we were German, this is a not so, as DNA results have shown (ftdna R1b1c6). The Rocks of my lineage are from a native Irish origin.

I was born on the 28th of February 1958, I live in Dublin City on the Northside of the city, in whitehall, where I am married Mary, we have two children, Niamh and Conor.

I am a Documentation specialist in a large software translation company based in Bray County Wicklow. I love history, music, genealogy, chatting, the odd glass of whiskey [Red Breast the Worlds finest] and a pint of plain [Stout, Guinness, again nothing like it]. I also like poetry, walking beautiful places, the company of friends, the wild ancient places of Ireland. Other than that I am open-minded, have no political affiliations [does not mean I have no opinion, I do], I am not as religious as I should, but I am spiritual in my own private way.

As CV's go, it is probably not as impressive as say Abraham Lincoln's or Michael Collin's, but hey you only get one life and I am happier than most and want for nothing.

My Rock family is as follows:

My Mother is Annie Glennon-Kelly and my father was Austin Rock. I have four older sisters and two younger brothers. We lived and where reared in the Santry Area of the North City of Dublin

My fathers family are as follows:

Grandfather Joseph Rock, born 1882, Grandmother Kitty Rock, born 1897 [nee O'Neill]

Sons: Thomas, Born 1910, Seamus [James] Born 1919, Joseph born 1921, Patrick born 1923, John born 1924and Austin [my father] born 1927.

Sisters: May born 1914, Mona born 1920 and Eileen born 1916

They lived first Dominick Street, then moved to 36 Mountjoy Street and finally Fontenoy Street in the North Inner City of Dublin

My Grandfathers family [as far as I know]:

Great Grand Father: Richard Rock born 1851, Great grandmother Kitty Rock [nee Purcell]

Sons: Richard, James, Christopher and Joseph [my grandfather

Sisters: Eileen, Julia

NOTE: Not 100% certain of the above. Richard and Kitty lived first in Phibsboro [North City of Dublin] and moved to Mountjoy Street, however Richard was born in Dorset/Bolton Street. Number 11 Dorset Row.

My Great Grandfathers Family:

James Rock had a father called, James, and his father was John Rock of Bolton Street Upper [Number 11 Dorset Row] Dublin who died in on January 17th 1816, beyond that I have little details.
