New Policy

For the comfort, health and safety of all the guinea pigs TSPRC will from now on only re-home guinea pigs if they are housed in either a shed or indoors, an outdoor run is fine in good weather with warm shelter during the day but must be brought in before dark. Keeping guinea pigs out of damp and cold weather will lessen the chances of illness and fungal infections. We will not re-home guinea pigs if they are to be put into an aviary that also houses birds. Abrupt changes in tempratures can effect your guinea pigs health.

Adoption Procedure

If you are interested in adopting any of the animals featured on this page please contact TSPRC. There are often animals ready to be adopted that are not featured on this page!

If you look at our care sheets for the particular pet you have in mind it will show you all the things that your new pet will need beforehand. For homes outside of Tipperary we may ask someone reliable to do a home check for us, nothing invasive, just a few simple questions and they will need to have a look at the animals housing.

If you send us an e-mail marked ‘home check questionnaire’ we can send you a list of the type of questions that will be asked.

Donations when adopting

Again, if you take a look at the Help TSPRC page you will find a list of items that can be donated to us when adopting a pet. We especially are in need of solid hutches/runs and the larger gerbil/hamster cages.

Syrian Hamster

One white baby Syrian hamster will be ready for re-homing in 4 weeks time. Must be homed alone. Photo to follow.

Floppy

Floppy is a 4 year old (unspayed) lop eared rabbit, is vaccinated, who is looking for a loving home with a neutered male bunny or perhaps a friendly female rabbit. Her 2 siblings were homed together and she misses bunny company, indoor home preferable.

Bluebell, Bella and Tinkerbell

These are young adult female guinea pigs looking for a home to call their own. They are all approx a year and a half years old and were brought to the center already pregnant, their babies were previously being sold to the pet shops. Thankfully they can now relax and enjoy life and enjoy some quality time to themselves after all their hard work. These ladies can be rehomed as a group or in pairs or if you already have a lone female guinea pig looking for company.

Three Little Pigs

These 3 female babies (although growing fast) were born at the shelter to Tinkerbell and Bella on the 25th and 28th of August 2004. These babies can go altogether or be re-homed with any of the females featured on this page.

Butterscotch

Butterscotch is approx 2 years old and was extremely nervous when she first arrived, she was so terrified that we thought she may have to stay with us permanently, she had spent her previous life alone with no other guinea pig company. Having the other ladies as company has really brought her out of her shell, after many months she will now come up to us, beg for food and sniff and even lick your hand once she gets to know you. She can be rehomed with any of the females featured on this page.

Fudge and Chipstix

This is Fudge and Chipstix, they are approx a year and a half. Used for breeding, they were no longer wanted. These two male guinea pigs will need a patient home with who has previous guinea pig experience, they are still very nervous but coming round slowly, these boys are more suited as pets for adults, and like all our piggies deserves a home to call their own.
