History of the Student Council
Ms. Roe received a letter from the Edmund Rice committee in 1999 for an invitational training day in Swords. Ten students from our school went to the training day on a Saturday and learned how to run a Students Council. They then decided that a Student's Council would benefit the school and began preparation for launching the council.
Since then, the Student's Council have been hugely involved in fund-raising. They regularly hold raffles, non-uniform days and other activites to help to raise money. They've used the money for different things around the school such as decorating the pool room. The also hold fund raising events to give money to various charities.
Since then Student Councils have been made mandatory for all schools by the Department of Education and this decision has been welcomed and enthusiastically embraced by other schools.
