 1992 vs 2002

The 'Grand Fun Tournament' took place on St. Stephens Day Last. The 1992 team took on this years senior team in a challenge. The match was in aid of Roscommon/Mayo hospice and thankfully there was a good turn-out on the day. Hot whiskeys were passed around as the amused on-lookers watched the players cover each other in mud in mock-fights. It didn't seem like it was 10 years since the '92 tam won their famous county title, they played like it was only a few months ago. Backed up by present stars like Damien Donlon and Luke Dolan, former Strokestown heros like Michael Donlon, Ronan McPhilips, Gerry hagan, Adrian Donlon and Tom Corcoran to name but a few rang rings aroung their younger club mates.

In the second match of the day some of the players fathers, ex-players themselves, togged out.  Tom Hanly, Martin Silke, Gerry Hagan, and Séan Collins played along side their sons against a selection of footballers from the parish.

the day ended with a lot of mud-covered players, a lot of smiling spectators and I'm sure later on a lot of sore bones!
