When General Humbert stopped in Swinford he sent his army out to houses
around Swinford to gather food and things they would need for their journey. They took
such things as horses, whiskey, saddles, cattle, linen, etc. They took the gates off the
entrance to Brabazon's house to use as a barbeque for roasting cattle and sheep. The next
year, the goverment sent out men to check to see what the people around Swinford had lost
to General Humbert's army. The Goverment only compensated those people who were loyal to
the English King. |
