The Old Vicarage

The Old Vicarage.jpgIf we turn left as we come out of St Columba’s Church, we arrive at the Old Vicarage. This building was probably erected in the 16th century, but it was renovated extensively in the 1730s by Mr Joseph Espine. In 1872, Swords Vestry bought back the vicarage, and spent money in improving it. The house has not been occupied by clergy for some time, and a new house was built for the rector on the other side of Church Road. There was an Orphanage for Protestant Boys on Church Road.

Nurse's Hill

As we continue down Church Road, we come to a small cottage which was traditionally the home of the Jubilee Nurse, hence the name, Nurse’s Hill. Turn right and we come to Bridge Street.
