The study of
local history makes an important contribution to giving children a sense of pride in
their environment and heritage. Over the years, St Colmcille's B.N.S., Swords,
Co. Dublin has built up a
substantial archive of local history material, inspired in part by the fact that
the distinguished historian, Patrick O’Neill, NT (RIP) was a past pupil and
teacher in our school. His series of monographs, An Macalla, was of
invaluable assistance as initial source material.
