Mini-Marathon Participants

The Board of Management wishes to express its thanks to the parents who will be participating in the Mini-Marathon on behalf of the school. All funds raised will go towards meeting some of the school’s day to day expenditure on heating, cleaning and lighting.

Duty of Care / Behaviour in Junior Yard Prior to 8.50 a.m.

This is a reminder with regard to the commencement of the School’s Duty of Care. It is important for parents to bear in mind that they are responsible for their children prior to 8.50 a.m. and that the children are expected to walk in the yard.

Photographs

The taking of class photographs will occur during the first week back in school after the Easter vacation. Please ensure that your son has his full uniform on each day except the PE days.

Post Primary Transfer

The pupils in 6th Class have now obtained places for September 2014 in post primary schools. If parents wish to send their son to Colaiste Choilm, it is essential that they apply as soon as possible because a waiting list system is used. For Fingal Community College and St Finian’s Community College, applications are made when the boys are in 6th Class.

Multi-cultural Evening

The multi-cultural evening will be held on Tuesday, 8 April 2014. This is one of the highlights of the school year, and we thank in advance the members of our school community who are cooking / baking. All proceeds raised will go towards some of the medical expenses of Éabha Dunne.

Upgrade of Computers/ Request for Monitors

The work of upgrading the computers to cater for the change from Windows XP to Windows 7 has now been practically completed with a very significant investment of resources. Donations of flat screen monitors would be very helpful in this regard.

Anti-Bullying Policy

A draft of a revised Anti-Bullying Policy will be presented to the Board of Management on 12 May 2014. As soon as it is sanctioned, it will be uploaded to the school website and also made available in hard copy, if requested.

Parents are requested to submit changes of address and/or phone numbers to Mrs Mary Mc Gee, School Secretary.

Induction Meeting

The Induction Meeting for parents of pupils in the new Junior Infants Classes will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 30 April.

School Tours

Due to the prevailing economic climate, the school outings which will be held later in the year will be to local destinations thus keeping costs to an absolute minimum.

No Uniform Day

Friday, 11 April will be a non- uniform day. If parents/ pupils wish to contribute €1 or more, it will be donated to Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Trócaire boxes are being collected on Friday so it would be appreciated if all boxes could be returned by Thursday, please.

Uniforms/ Track Suits

The recent survey with regard to attitudes to the wearing of school uniforms and tracksuits showed an overwhelming majority in favour of the current policy. In this regard, a sale of uniforms and track-suits will be held in early May. More details will be given closer to the event.

Decade of Centenaries

Congratulations to the boys in 6th Class who completed a project recently on The Farm Labourers’ Strike in Swords in 1913. The project has been submitted for inclusion in the competition which is sponsored by the Departments of Education in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Sporting Activities

Very well done to all of our pupils who have participated in the recent sporting activities. During the past month, our pupils have represented the school at Gaelic Football, soccer, athletics, rugby and basketball.

Holiday Arrangements

  • The school will close at 12.00 sharp on Friday, 11 April. On a number of occasions in the recent past, parents have forgotten that the school is closing at 12.00.
  • The school will re-open at 8.50 a.m. on Monday, 28 April.
