Jog
Thanks very much to the parents and pupils who contributed the sum of €7,000.18 to the Sponsored Jog. This represents a decrease of 8% on last year’s figure but in the prevailing economic climate, it was a commendable achievement and reflects well on the generosity of many members of our school community. A worrying trend however was the fact that 98 cards were not returned to the school. Parents’
Association Cake Sale
Very well done to the members of the Parents’ Association on the success of
the Cake Sale. Thanks very much to all who baked or bought the lovely
confectionery which was on display. Raffle
The winning tickets in the Raffle will be drawn on Thursday,
20 December. There is still time to purchase a ticket and have a chance of
winning one of the wonderful prizes. The proceeds from the Raffle enable the
Parents’ Association to provide treats for the pupils at various events
throughout the school year. Work done or
Envisaged
In these difficult economic times, it is very difficult to embark on
development projects. However, an application has been made for planning
permission to build a 3 classroom unit, and if the funding which was promised
last year is provided, work will commence during the summer vacation. These
rooms will be used for resource teaching. Thanks to the generosity of successive
generations of parents and pupils, the school is well-equipped and resourced,
and it is important at this juncture to maintain the levels to which our pupils
have become accustomed. Thanks
Post Primary
Transfer
Practically all of the pupils in 6th Class have now obtained
places for the coming school year. Parents of pupils in other classes, who wish
to send their sons to Coláiste Choilm, should contact that school without delay
because it operates a waiting list system. Places for Track-suit bottoms
There is a limited supply of track suit bottoms available at a knock-down
price of €5. The range of stock is suitable for boys aged 6 to 11. We also
have 12 tracksuits which are suitable for pupils in Junior Infants, and are
priced at €15 each. This clothing
will be available for sale on our return to school in January. Enrolment of Junior
Infants for School Year 2013/2014
Parents are advised to collect application forms from the School Secretary
and return completed form and baptismal certificate by Friday,
1 February 2013 at the latest. Parent Teacher
Meetings
The attendance at the recent Parent/Teacher meetings was very high, and
indicative of the interest which many parents have shown consistently in the
progress of their children. In the rare instances where parents did not attend
for a meeting, a note or a phone call to advise the school would have been
appreciated. Collection for
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The support and goodwill of parents and pupils are very much appreciated by
our teachers and ancillary staff. At this time of the year, the emphasis among
our school community is on giving rather than on receiving, and the teachers,
ancillary staff and pupils will be making contributions to the local conference
of St Vincent de Paul Society. No Uniform Day
There will be a no-uniform day on Friday,
21 December. A voluntary contribution of €1 (or more) may be brought to
school. Christmas Arrangements
