Jog

Thanks very much to the parents and pupils who contributed the sum of €5,900 to the Sponsored Jog. This represents a decrease of 16% on last year’s figure but in the prevailing economic climate, it was a commendable achievement and reflects well on the generosity of many members of our school community.

New Building

In these difficult economic times, it is very difficult to embark on development projects, but a beautiful three-roomed extension to the school has now been completed. These rooms will be used for resource teaching and will be a tremendous asset for the community of St Colmcille’s BNS. There is a significant short-fall between the grant aid (€120,000) and the overall cost (€150,000 approximately), and this will have consequences for the purchase of resources for many years to come unless means are found of meeting this shortfall. Thanks to the generosity of successive generations of parents and pupils, the school is well-equipped and resourced, and it is important at this juncture to maintain the levels to which our pupils have become accustomed.

Thanks

  • To the parents who have donated uniforms, tracksuits and books, we extend our thanks. Donations of this nature are always very much appreciated, and at this juncture, donations of Flat screen monitors would be very much appreciated

  • To Fingallians GAA for providing personnel to coach the boys during the first term

Post Primary Transfer

Practically all of the pupils in 6th Class have now obtained places for the coming school year. Parents of pupils in other classes who wish to send their sons to Colaiste Choilm, should contact that school without delay because it operates a waiting list system. Places for Fingal Community College and St Finian’s Community College are allocated to pupils while they are in 6th Class.

Parent Teacher Meetings

The attendance at the recent Parent/Teacher meetings was very high, and indicative of the interest which many parents have shown consistently in the progress of their children. In the rare instances where parents did not attend for a meeting, a note or a phone call to advise the school would have been appreciated

Collection for the victims of the calamity in the Philippines

The support and goodwill of parents and pupils are very much appreciated by our teachers and ancillary staff. At this time of the year, the emphasis among our school community is on giving rather than on receiving, and the teachers, ancillary staff and pupils will be making contributions to the Kaliwat Iliganon Association. As part of this initiative, there will be a no-uniform day on Friday, 20 December. A voluntary contribution of €1 (or more) may be brought to school.
