Sporting Activities

  • Gaelic Football: The school team has played two games, and its record is one game lost and one game won.
  • Soccer: The soccer team was beaten narrowly in the Cup, and it will now be able to concentrate on winning the Fingal League.
  • Cross-Country: Congratulations to the school teams which performed with such distinction in the Inter-School Cross Country Competitions in Loughshinny.  Eoin Martin won the over 12 event and Ryan Dooney won the under 12 competition.  In addition to the boys who won events, many of the other team members obtained very high placings in their competitions.

Thanks

  • We are very grateful to Typetec for the 14 computers which they donated to the school recently.
  • Mrs. Maughan donated some computer hardware
  • To the parents who donated school uniforms and tracksuits.  It is very useful to have a supply of uniforms and tracksuits because many of the shops do not stock uniforms throughout the entire year.
  • To the parents who have contributed Tesco tokens as part of the Computers for Schools’ Scheme.

Information Technology

11 PC’s, a scanner and a printer were purchased recently. This expenditure will mean that there will be one PC per pupil in the IT room.  The IT initiative has been so successful that teachers from other schools are visiting the school on a constant basis to obtain information and advice for their own schools.

Fund Raising

The developments in the IT room have been very costly, and there is a  shortfall of €5,000. We thank publicly the parents who made contributions as a result of the appeal in the last Newsletter. This school has not done any fund raising since 1998 /1999 when the IT room was built. Many schools ask for yearly contributions, but the Board of Management is opposed to this method of fund raising. However in this instance, the Board of Management is very supportive, and we ask that each family contribute a minimum of €10 to defray the costs of the new PC’s.
