Season 2003

10/04 Big challenge for Blues this season
After years of waiting the Blues are back in the Premier league, and this is surely going to be Jimmy's biggest challenge as a manager. With very few new players coming into the squad and none with premier experience, it will require a major effort for the club to survive in this league. Added to this the first division player of the year last season Wayne Russell was released by the club 2 weeks before the new season starts. This gives Gavin Morris a chance that he should grab with both hands, Gavin has been the under 21 Keeper for the last 3 years and has waited for this patiently for his opportunity. Shelbourne who in my book are favourites for the league this year will provide a tough opening game for the Blues.

02/04 Fans in block E
With the Blues now back in the Premier Division and the anticipation of big away support the fans who sang in Block A last season are moving to Block E. This is a request made by the club and the fans are happy to move to help the club in their fight for surival. Wayne Russell has hit the headlines lately as he stated he was not paid for preseason training. Whether Wayne is going to play for the Blues this season is still up in the air. Hopefully he will have a change of heart and between the posts when we face Shelbourne on friday week. Otherwise we have an able deputy in Gavin Morris.

24/02 Shelbourne in RSC
So finally the fixtures are released and the Blues will face Shelbourne in the opening game in the RSC. Looking through the first round fixtures the Blues have all the big teams at home, so this means that in round 4 we will be playing the relegation contenders in the RSC. When you look at these games, everyone is a big match and we now know what we have been missing for the past few seasons. Good Luck to Jimmy and Giles over the summer months. Just a quick note to say that we face Limerick and Kilkenny in the League Cup.

15/02 Fixtures
At a launch at 4pm t
omorrow in Dublin, the Fixtures for the coming season will be released. Who will the Blues be facing? Who will Pat Dolan's Cork City face? When will the season kick off? When will it finish?

15/02 Opening Match
The announcement of next seasons fixtures will be released on Monday week 24th February, but I am lead to believe that the Blues first game is at home to Bohemians. This would see the two champions go face to face, in what would be a bumper occasion in the RSC. Blues Chairman Ger O'Brien would be thrilled by this as this would surely be a great pay day for the club, who would be expecting a massive turn out from the soccer followers in Waterford.

08/02 Transfer news
The Blues are currently looking to add quality players to their squad for the coming season back in the Premier league. Rumor's are appearing every day Wes Charles was mentioned but this is a definite no no, Alan Reynolds is joining Rovers and not returning to the Blues, Willie Burton could be on his way to the RSC along with O'Flynn from Lmerick. On the other side Wayne Russell who was voted 1st division player of the Year by his fellow players in the eircom league is being looked at by St. Pats.
