This is my German navy site. In peace time  it's total strengt is 27,200.  

The German navy participates on, under and above the sea with today's finest technology.

Here's a list of all the ships,  submarines and aircraft:                               

DESTROYERS:

-Lutjens-Klasse (type 103B)

Germany's only 2 destroyers (air-defense) have been modified twice but after a lot of engine problems they will be replaced by the new 124 frigates in 2002. The first of the Lutjens-klasse (D187 Rommel) was disbanded in 1998. Ships were built in the USA , variants of the US CF Adams Class.(D185 LUTJENS and D186 MOLDERS) 

      

FRIGATES:

-Bradenburg-Klasse (type 123)

The type 123 anti-submarine warfare frigate is a milestone in the development of Germany's frigate fleet. The Bradenburg class ships were oredered in June 1989.The first of the class was commissioned in 1994.The ships form part of the Wilhemshaven-based 6th frigate-squadron.(F215 BRADENBURG,F216 SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN,F217 BAYERN and F218 MECKLENBURG-VORPOMERN)

-Bremen-Klasse (type F122)

The German navy has eight Bremen class frigates. The ship's primary role was for operations within the Nato and German task forces.The ship is designed primarily for anti-surface warfare missions with strong anti-air and anti-submarine capability.(F207 BREMEN,F208 NIEDERSACHEN,F209 RHEINLAND-PFALZ,F210 EMDEN,F211 KOLN,F212 KARLSRUHE,F213 AUGSBURG and F214 LUBECK)

 

- Corvette Type K 130

The German Minister of Defence has finalised the competition process for the German Navy new generation Corvette Type K 130.The design concept of ARGE K 130 is based on world-wide observed development, B+V MEKOŽ A-frigateThe important technological features of the Frigate Class Type 124 that have been incorporated into the K130 are extensive platform automation, network technology with distributed computer software for weapon, command and control systems.The K 130 will be the first naval ship equipped with two Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV)

-Sachsen-Klasse (type F124)

The Sachsen class is Germany's future air-defense frigate. The design is based on the extension of the Bradenburg (F123) class design with the addition of anti-air warfare equipment and a capability based on a advanced sensor configuration and a stealth design.(F219 SACHSEN,F220 HAMBURG,F221 HESSEN and F222 THURINGEN)

 

SUBMARINES:

-Klasse U-206A Coastal submarine

The German navy has 12 upgraded 206 submarines. The submarines main use is against coastal mines. It is one of the world's smallest submarine but can operate all over the world and can manouver until a depth of circa 20m, and is capable of laying 12 mines and has 8 type 533mm torpedoes.(S194 U15,S195 U16,S196 U17,S197 U18,S171 U22,S172 U23,S173 U24,S174 U25,S175 U26,S177 U28,S178 U29 and S179 U30)

-Klasse U-212 submarine

The type 212 submarine is a non-nuclear submarine capable of long distance submerged  passage to the area of operation. The order for the German navy for the first of four of the submarines was placed in 1994 and the first ship will be commissioned in the year 2003. There are 6 torpedo tubes in two groups of three and is also capable of laying mines.(? U31,? U32,? U33 and ? U34)

FAST MISSILE SHIPS

-Gepard-Klasse (type 14A)

These units are further developed or the basis of the Albatros klasse and have instead of a second 76mm gun the RAM flugkoersystem. This serves protection from opposing missiles. Those on board sensors present correspond to a large extent to those on the Albetros klasse , it also has torpedo and mine capability's;

-Tiger-Klasse (type 148)

These boats are for well 20 years in service and are were  originally  for surface warfare in North and the Baltic Sea conceived . In the mean time the they were re-tooled several times, in order the challenges have grown.

-Albatross-Klasse (type 143)

Beside the armament of missiles , typical for German ships , these  units have wire-guided heavy-weight torpedoes of large range. The fire control control systems permit the fight against five targets at the same time, it is equipped with EXOCET  missiles.

SUPPORT SHIPS

-Tender Elbe (type 404)

The tender of the Elbe klasse is able to supply boats in lake with fuel and support with repairs, water or ammunition. In addition the important function of disposal.

 

-Servicer Lueneburg (type 701)

The Lueneburg possesses no weapon systems, refrain one from self-defence weapons on the two military filledservicers of the klasse 701. Many are built former trading vessels or after fishing vessels. There are 2 ships of the Lueneburg klasse. (Freiburg and Luck Castle)

-Fuel transporter Rhoen-Klasse (704)

Technical data: -Full load displacement: 14t -Performence:5,800KW -Rate:15 -Crew:42 -Loading capacity:44,760 m cubed

-Servicer of group application Berlin-Klasse (type 702)

Commissioning in April 2000 in Kiel; It will be the German Navy largest ship , with full load capacity :18.500t. 2 Lynx helicopter will be aboard.

AIRCRAFT & HELICOPTERS:

-Tornado

The tornado multi-role aircraft for ground attack and air defense is operational in four terms. -GR1 interdictor /strike aircraft for close air support, counter air attack and defense suppression. -GR1A is an all weather day and night tactical reconnaisense  aircraft. -GR1B is the long range maritime attack version. -GRF3 is the long range air defense fighter. The German navy has 52 Tornados.

-ATL3 Atlantique

Atlantique ATL3 is a new maritime patrol aircraft. The ATL3 is a radically weapon system with a maximum 9,000 kg payload, new technology engines , a state of the art glass cockpit and sophisticated avionics and sensors. The German navy has 18 ATL3 Atlantiques.

 

-Super Sea Lynx

The naval Super Lynx is a rugged multi-role helicopter for anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine , economic zone and offshore patrol. The helicopter is also used on service on the German type 122 and 123 frigates. The German navy has ordered  7 Sea Lynx, and is upgrading it's 24 other Lynx.

 

-NH 90

The again developed multinational helicopter NH-90 finds its application at the navy as special execution MH-90 in the future both and onboard system to the submarine hunt and in the land-based SAR service. Thus it is to begin the follow-up both the SEA KING and the SEA LYNX helicopter of the navy. On the inlet of the planned 38 helicopters is to be counted starting from 2003.

Sea King

The weapon system SEA KING worked in its major task SAR (SEARCH AND RESCUE/Suche and rescue) outstanding. First of 22 helicopters were placed to 1975 in the naval pilot squadron 5 in keel Holtenau in service. Since then SEA KING helicopter provides its SAR readiness over North Sea, Baltic Sea and Schleswig-Holstein daily approximately around the clock. In addition are helicopters on Helgoland (required on Borkum and/or Westerland / Sylt) and into warn-flow with Rostock stationed.

The German navy locates it's  navy bases in the north of Germany on it's coastline.
