Leave No Trace – the principles of outdoor ethics.

Continuing our series on ‘Leave No Trace – principles of outdoor ethics’, this time we cover ‘Respect Farm Animals and Wildlife’.  This is the 3rd principle in the set of seven, which apply to all our outdoor activities, not just on Binnian walks.

·         Keep dogs under control. Dogs should only be brought onto hills or farmland with owner’s permission.  Note: Wee Binnians do not allow dogs on walks.

·         Observe wild animals and birds from a distance. Prevent disturbing them especially during mating or nesting seasons (spring and early summer)

·         Never feed wildlife (including birds) or farm animals.  Feeding wildlife damages their health and alters their natural behaviour.
