- Martin William Walsh from Bohernabreena, married Jane O'Dowd from Ticknock, founding one of the Walsh families of Rockbrook, Rathfarnham, in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains.

- Martin ran a small farm, and he laboured in a local quarry. The stone dust he inhaled weakened his lungs. One wet winter he was chilled; his cold became a fatal pneumonia. He left a widow and seven children in 1938.
